Everything a polished demo needs

All the editing you'd do by hand.
Done before you open the editor.

A cursor that behaves

Shaky hands come out smooth. The real cursor shapes come along (hand on links, text cursor in fields), it fades away while it's still, and it glides across cuts instead of jumping.

Spotlight

Dim everything but a soft circle around the cursor, during zooms, all the time, or just for the moments you pick.

Every shape, one recording

16:9 for YouTube, 1:1 and 4:5 for posts, 9:16 for Shorts and Reels. Without a background, the frame follows your cursor.

You, in a bubble

Record your camera alongside. Circle, rounded, portrait or landscape, any border colour, hidden for the bits you'd rather not be in.

Record anything

A whole display, a single window (even when it's covered) or just the area you drag out. Mic, system audio and camera too.

A real editor, when you want one

Split and speed up the boring bits, add notes, music and voice-over, pick exactly what each zoom shows. Every change can be undone, and every recording stays a project you can reopen.

GIFs that loop perfectly

Seamless loops, boomerang, speed, a size limit it fits for you, and straight to your clipboard. Or MP4 at any size up to 4K.

Native to the Mac

Written in Swift with SwiftUI, ScreenCaptureKit and Core Image. No Electron, no web view. Every frame is drawn on the GPU at 60 fps.

Private by design

Your screen never leaves your Mac.

Scope never connects to the internet: no analytics, no tracking, no update checks, no account. It runs in Apple's App Sandbox without network access, so it couldn't even if it tried. For zooming on typing it notes when keys are pressed, never which.

Get Scope

One line. Then hit record.

1

Install with Homebrew

Update with brew upgrade scope. Prefer a zip? Download it from GitHub and allow it once in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

2

Allow screen recording

macOS asks once. The microphone and camera are only needed if you use them.

3

Record, then export

Pick a display, window or area and hit record. Press ⌘⇧2 to stop from any app. The zooms are already there.
